You have no option but to bow to the pressure of the required DPF regeneration. Damaged Turbocharger; This is more of a consequence than a symptom. When you delay the DPF regeneration, the pressure build-up also puts the turbocharger at risk. When a clogged DPF hinders or slows the flow of exhaust gases, it causes the temperature to rise.

The GPF is a particularly ingenious device for improving the carbon footprint of vehicles. Largely inspired by the particulate filter in diesel cars, it takes the recipe from it and adapts it to petrol cars. The device works beautifully and is reliable, durable and efficient. Its extended life makes it a particularly well thought-out and Posts: 56. Help please with DPF regen. M57 35D. Had the Particle Filter warning on the Dash, so looked at the fault memory with ISTA+ and saw the relevant errors were 480A and 481A. Did the pressure tests at idle and 2000rpm and found the pressures to be just under and just over the thresholds, respectively. Last regen was around 3500km ago and If your DPF is clogged and it keeps clogging, and if you’re doing enough low-load highway driving to support active regeneration, and you’re back at the dealership a dozen times for a manual regeneration in a service bay, the blockage is a symptom of a problem elsewhere. Guaranteed. And treating the symptom never cures the problem. The temperature is around 600 degree, giving it a good blast whilst regenerating or pottering around has no part of regeneration temps, infact flooring it whilst regenerating seems to drop the temps.this is the opposite of driving whilst not regenerating where wot put temps up around 350 degrees.

To properly clean the Diesel Particulate Filter while driving, you will need to ride. The highway represents an ideal ground for this exercise, but simple roads will do the business. Maintain an engine speed of at least 3,000 rpm. Indeed, the engine’s level of heating is indirectly linked to the heating of the DPF too.

Car is a BMW X1 2.0 TD automatic If the car starts a DPF regeneration, extend your journey if need be until it has finished the job (takes around 5-10 mins of driving, in my Alfa at least
\n how does bmw dpf regeneration work
Built from ceramic materials, the DPF is designed like an ordinary catalytic converter and uses the same honeycomb structure. To ensure that the DPF system doesn't clog and cause performance problems, the 6.7 Cummins burns the collected soot into harmless ash through regeneration. The DPF regenerates in two automatic cycles; passive and active.
However, when the regeneration is occurring I find that the noise of the exhaust changes - becomes deeper sounding - and there is a small loss of power (manifests as slight hesitation). Besides EGT, if you can read the particle filter load (i.e. pressure differential across the filter), that might give you an indication.
the DPF catches the soot in little chambers when the exhaust flows through it.. these DPF cleaners like the one mentioned flow in the same direction as the exhaust. how much does it really clean out? i have heard of people removing the DPF and flushing it out with a pressure washer (no soap) in the reverse direction and having good luck.
